A bit of personal reflection that I have learned this month about myself and I believe can also apply to each of you.
Earlier this month one of my dearest friends passed away from health issues related to long-term diabetes.
For me it was a big wake up call about NOT living life to the fullest. I’ve been playing small for the most part over the last few years. A negative habit that grew exponentially from a long-term relationship.
I’m very grateful for what I have, but honestly I’ve not been living life to the fullest.
From the outside you may think I have the world but that’s so far from the truth. And while I preach a lot about gratitude I’ve somehow failed to appreciate myself.
Growing up on a small farm without siblings my own age taught me a lot about being alone and self-motivation. However, these past few years I have realized that I’ve put others way before myself and I have settled into a small space in life.

So my message to all of you is this… If you don’t choose yourself first and foremost then there will be nothing left to give to others.
Choose yourself and choose a BIG life.
I’m always thankful for my mom wanting more for herself and me when I was a child – she never hesitated to live life to the fullest when she saw an opportunity. The biggest example was taking me to the Philippine Islands when I was 5. That changed how I saw the world, and my place in it for the rest of my life.
Happy New Year!
